چکیده
Abstract A comprehensive, Wisconsin state-wide assessment of waterhemp response to a diverse group herbicide sites action has not been conducted. Our objective was characterize the collection accessions postemergence (POST) and preemergence (PRE) herbicides commonly used in corn soybean Wisconsin. Greenhouse experiments were conducted with more than 80 from 27 counties. POST treatments included 2,4-D, atrazine, dicamba, fomesafen, glufosinate, glyphosate, imazethapyr, mesotrione at 1× 3× label rates. PRE mesotrione, metribuzin, S-metolachlor 0.5×, 1×, Ninety-eight percent 88% exhibited ≥50% plant survival after exposure imazethapyr glyphosate rate, respectively. Seventeen percent, 16%, 3% respectively, applied rate. Survival all ≤25% 2,4-D or dicamba either rate evaluated. No any accession survived glufosinate Forty-five <90% density reduction atrazine fomesafen Plant ≥96% S-metolachlor, results suggest that resistance is widespread Wisconsin, whereas present lower extent. One (A75, Fond du Lac County) multiple when POST. Overall, ineffective for control Proactive management use effective are fundamental

Managing around Waterhemp Resistance
Few weed species have gained so much attention over the past decade as waterhemp. Waterhemp has gone from an obscure weed species in the 1980s to a species that has achieved widespread distinction throughout most of the Midwest. This species gained its notoriety in the early 1990s when it began appearing in many corn and soybean fields in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. In these fields AL...
متن کاملMultiple Herbicide Resistance in Lolium multiflorum and Identification of Conserved Regulatory Elements of Herbicide Resistance Genes
Herbicide resistance is a ubiquitous challenge to herbicide sustainability and a looming threat to control weeds in crops. Recently four genes were found constituently over-expressed in herbicide resistant individuals of Lolium rigidum, a close relative of Lolium multiflorum. These include two cytochrome P450s, one nitronate monooxygenase and one glycosyl-transferase. Higher expressions of thes...
متن کاملMultiple-Herbicide Resistance Is Widespread in Roadside Palmer Amaranth Populations.
Herbicide-resistant Palmer amaranth is a widespread issue in row-crop production in the Midsouthern US. Palmer amaranth is commonly found on roadside habitats in this region, but little is known on the degree of herbicide resistance in these populations. Herbicide resistance in roadside Palmer amaranth populations can represent the spread of an adaptive trait across a selective landscape. A lar...
متن کاملHerbicide Metabolism in Weeds — Selectivity and Herbicide Resistance
The metabolic detoxication/bioactivation pathways, the levels and activity of enzymes, and endogenous cofactors mediating these reactions in crops have been well document‐ ed; however, much less evidence has been accumulated in weed species. The herbicide metabolism as a selectivity factor is summarized with special attention to acetyl-CoA car‐ boxylases (ACCase)-inhibiting aryloxyphenoxypropio...
متن کاملNovel Sources of Witchweed (Striga) Resistance from Wild Sorghum Accessions
Sorghum is a major food staple in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), but its production is constrained by the parasitic plant Striga that attaches to the roots of many cereals crops and causes severe stunting and loss of yield. Away from cultivated farmland, wild sorghum accessions grow as weedy plants and have shown remarkable immunity to Striga. We sought to determine the extent of the resistance to S...
